For the 16th consecutive year PNW Surfrider chapters will come together for an action packed weekend full of surfing, parties, networking, and all the good stuff that people have come to expect from a Clean Water Classic. The organizing has begun and we are excited to announce September 22nd-24th as the weekend of this years contest.

Over the years, the Clean Water Classic has raised tens of thousands of dollars for Surfrider chapters in the Pacific Northwest, supporting their various water quality and beach access programs and campaigns. This volunteer led event begins Friday night with a registration gathering where attendees, volunteers, and contestants can check out items for raffle and silent auction while enjoying a brew. It continues on with surfing, of course, both Saturday and Sunday including a Saturday night bash .

The contest kicks off bright and early Saturday right as the sun comes up. Sponsor and Surfrider tents are popped up, flags decorate the beach and the surfers hit the water. Since moving the contest to the fall from May we've been fortunate, for the most part, to have much improved weather and waves. This move has added to the anticipation and enjoyment of the entire weekend. Sunday the contest wraps up with the final heats and award ceremony which last year took place right on the bluff in true drizzly PNW fashion.

No contest weekend is complete without a big ole gathering of all the folks involved. Every CWC, Surfrider hosts a Saturday night bash that brings people together and supports the local community. Last year, we were fortunate to have 10 Barrel Brewing as the title sponsor. The team hooked up free food and discounted beer for the party keeping the masses fed, happy, and bidding on silent auction items and buying raffle tickets with all proceeds going to PNW chapters. The night was complete when the lights dimmed and the music picked up with a superb DJ getting people moving and shaking.

These contests are fun for everyone whether contestant, spectator, volunteer, or sponsor. If you would like more information on the contest you can go to the event website, Facebook page, or contact the event or WA Field Manager Brice Boland with any questions or sponsor inquires.
