It's back for another year! The always festive International Surfing Day (ISD), officially June 16th, is a time to celebrate the enjoyment part of the Surfrider mission as it relates to our oceans, waves and beaches. With chapter events in Tacoma, Port Angeles, and Westport, it's a perfect way to start your summer off and connect with your local chapter.
There's a variety of events to get involved with for ISD on Saturday the 16th in the Puget Sound or on the coast in Westport. On the coast, the Seattle and Capitol chapters will be in Westport for the day, running an afternoon cleanup at Westhaven State Park at noon, and sharing some stoke and getting in the water for some waves before and after. Please contact the Capitol or Seattle chapter for details, carpool options, and look for the Surfrider flag at the beach to sign-in.
The South Sound Chapter will also be getting in the action with a local cleanup in Tacoma featuring divers followed by an ISD and Ocean Friendly Restaurant (OFR) celebration at Devil's Reef! Help cleanup the beach just off of Ruston Way and then cheers to a summer of recreation and fun at the after party at one of Tacoma's newest OFRs!
What's become one of the more anticipated events in Port Angeles and a premiere ISD event is the wild (but family friendly) Olympic Peninsula Chapter's International Surfing Day party in Port Angeles. Taking place Friday, June 22nd beginning at 6pm at Harbinger Winery, this bash is the major fundraiser of the year for the chapter and features excellent food, drink, raffle and silent auction items. Tickets are $25 for adults, $12 for students with ASB cards, and free for those 10 and under. Join the OPC for an amazing evening in PA and celebrate beach and marine recreation at one of the best bashes of the year on the peninsula! Please contact the chapter to purchase tickets or with any questions.
