Surfrider, along with several other partners, is an active member of a coalition making their voice heard about the threats of dirty fossil fuels to our oceans, waves and beaches. As in past years, we are promoting Hands Across the Sand in an effort to get more publicity and to coalesce with other concerned citizens and groups around this issue. We are asking for volunteers to take part in Hands Across the Sand this Saturday, May 21st, at noon at Westhaven State Park right on the beach.
Those standing up against fossil fuel threats in Washington have achieved several victories from Grays Harbor coal export, to Bellingham, WA and it's recent success fighting the proposed coal terminal at Cherry Point. Much work remains though and with an oil export terminal still proposed in Grays Harbor we need to continue to make our voice heard. Head to Westport this Saturday, get in a surf, and hold some hands and show you do not support dirty fossil fuel export in this prime Washington recreation area.
