We have two dedicated field staff to empower our Washington network and support the amazing work of our volunteers.
Liz Schotman
Washington Regional Manager
As Surfrider Foundation’s Washington Regional Manager, Liz supports the work of our five volunteer-led chapters here in Washington in their efforts to ensure clean water and healthy beaches for all. Liz started out as the Volunteer Coordinator for her local Olympia Chapter and managed their Blue Water Task Force. She has years of experience in marine science, fisheries, and wildlife management, as well as a background in education and outreach. When she’s not advocating for coastal protection, she can be found hiking, playing in the water, or chilling with her chickens in Olympia. To learn more about Liz, check out her blog post!
Peter's role as Policy Manager involves networking with grassroots members and volunteers to support local, state, and federal policies that impact our ocean, waves, and beaches. He represents Surfrider on several coalitions, including the Washington Coastal Marine Advisory Council and the Plastic Free Washington Coalition. Peter resides on the Olympic Peninsula and is a lifelong surfer who loves the cold water and big winter storms. Peter joined Surfrider as a volunteer and is extremely stoked to be able to work for an organization that advocates for the places he loves. To learn more about Pete, check out this blog post!
