Upcoming Workshops on Climate Change Impacts and Shoreline Planning in Grays Harbor County

Two workshops are on tap in the next few days in Grays Harbor County that focus on impacts related to climate change and how various planning scenarios can influence the future of Washington's coastline.

Climate Change Impacts in Grays Harbor is set for Thursday, February 4th, from 1-3pm at Grays Harbor College (Schermer Building, Room 4134). Several great speakers are lined up for this event, including former Surfrider staff Ian Miller, who is now a coastal hazards specialist for Washington Sea Grant.  More info can be found here.

Grays Harbor Coastal Futures, also at Grays Harbor College (Schermer Building, Room 4134), is next Monday from 3-6:30pm. The first in a series of workshops facilitated by experts from Oregon State University, this workshop will cover the potential impacts of evolving coastal hazards in Grays Harbor County in the coming decades and begin exploring the role of human decision making in preparing the county’s coastline for future risks via an alternative futures analysis. Light refreshments will be provided. If interested in attending, please RSVP with John Stevenson (jstevenson@coas.oregonstate.edu) to help us estimate food and drink purchases.
