Highlighting Ocean Friendly Restaurant's

Businesses in Washington and across the country are focusing more and more on how they can reduce waste while cutting costs. Surfrider's Ocean Friendly Restaurant program works to assist business owners in doing just that, while promoting the business and working on cost effective methods. Four of our Washington chapters have ongoing OFR programs, see some of the highlights below that includes a week-long fundraiser, national write-up news, a platinum status renewal, and the first OFR food truck in the state!

Our Olympia chapter who has been very active registering OFRs in their community will be the beneficiary of one of their current restaurants, Chelsea Farms Oyster Bar, Negroni Week June fundraiser. Stop in, enjoy a Nergoni, and know a portion of your dining experience goes to benefit the chapter and their ongoing efforts!

The first platinum OFR in the state, H2O Waterfront Bistro in Port Angeles, has recently renewed again at the platinum level. A longtime supporter of Surfrider, H2O has recently registered all of their employees as Surfrider members demonstrating their commitment to healthy oceans, waves and beaches, all while being a leader in sustainable business practices. Thanks to Young and the team at H2O for their continued support of the local Olympic Peninsula Chapter and Surfrider in general.

Over in Tacoma, the community with the most OFRs in the state, local tiki bar Devil's Reef was recently featured in Surfrider's OFR newsletter after they renewed their membership. Devil's Reef, who serves up some of the best food and cocktails around, has hosted several chapter meetings and owners Jason and Robin have long supported the South Sound chapter. Take a look at the recent article and stop by this funky and fun location while in Tacoma.

Up in beautiful Bellingham, the first food truck to register as an OFR, Sage Against the Machine, now is a leader for that side of the food industry to do what they can for sustainable practices. Newlyweds Tara and Nate Johnson recently celebrated their first year of success as Bellingham's first Vegan food truck. On a mission to help change the world through food, you can find Sage Against the Machine at some of Bellingham's best locations, gathering crowds and serving up delicious and conscious vegan cuisine.
