Welcome New Chapter Chair Johannes Ariens!

Johannes is a native Pacific North Westerner who has come to the Seattle Chapter by way of the Olympic Peninsula.  Now a long time Seattle resident, he spends a significant amount of time recreating on the Washington coast as well as our many inland waterways and mountains.  As a long time member of the Surfrider Foundation, Johannes has been quietly advocating for the protection of our waterways and sees this effort as a critical component to the continued economic growth and ecological health of our region.

Johannes received a BA in Communications from Seattle University and an MS in Construction Management from University of Washington.  His professional background with the DoD in design and construction contracting developed in him a thorough understanding of what it takes to get things done within a highly regulated, policy driven environment. In addition to his work with the DoD, he has worked at The Summit of Snoqualmie in various recreational and risk management roles over the past 15 years where he has gained a strong appreciation for the fine balance between a healthy natural environment and recreational access.  His most recent professional venture involves helping the WA Coastline thrive through increased recreational usage with his work at Loge Co, a recreationally driven sustainable developer.

He is stoked for the opportunity to become more involved with Surfrider as he truly feels that the health of our oceans is one of the most pressing issues of our time. For any questions or to share ideas please contact Johannes.
